Snow hits Northeast Wisconsin

GREEN BAY - Several inches of snow in Northeast Wisconsin caused problems for drivers Friday.

As snow fell throughout the morning, it was slow going on roads around the area.

"Slippery, and it's actually cold, so I think things are freezing fast," said Courtney Mohr of Ashwaubenon.

The wind caused snow to drift and blow - adding another challenge for drivers...

"It's the wind speed with gusts up into the 40 miles an hour," said Chris Pirlot with Green Bay Public Works.

Those working to clear the snow say it's not bad because it's light, but the blowing has made it bothersome.

"It's dry, it's easier to plow, but the tradeoff is when it's windy the dry snow doesn't stick together and it blows and drifts easier," said Pirlot.

Letter carrier Randy Mallery said his delivery on foot is slow going, but everyone will get their mail.

"It slows everything down a little bit getting through the snow and slipping on the ice that's underneath it, I've had one fall today already so," said Mallery.

Despite the wipeout, Mallery said with the lack of snow this winter, he's able to make the best of the situation.

"Couple times this year so I'm just having fun with it and go along with the day," said Mallery.

Also going along with the day was Jordan Bloch who works as a waver for Liberty Tax.

"Trying to make the best of it," said Bloch.

Bloch sang and played air guitar to draw attention to the business.

"I'm enjoying it being out here and seeing the snow coming down because I know we've waited a long time for winter to come around," said Bloch.

Others like James Marts of Ashwaubenon said they're just waiting for warmer temperatures to return.

"I hate it, I hate it," said Marts.

But he plugged away with his snow blower, admitting the light, fluffy snow wasn't too much work.

"It's going good, with this equipment I've got, it's not that bad," said Marts.
