GREEN BAY - A sea of green will take over downtown Green Bay this weekend for St. Patrick's Day.
But Monday, the festivities kicked off a little early.
Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt converted Crooks Street into O’Flatley Way.
Irish dancers and even an Irish Wolfhound pup were on hand for the ceremony.
Mayor Schmitt says this weekend's festivities will bring plenty of family fun.
"We understand St. Patrick's Day, people do drink and we ask people to drink responsibly but the city, the effort we've put into the downtown is very focused on making sure it's a family place,” he said.
A parade will be held Saturday morning and there will also be a display of green daytime fireworks.
