BELLEVUE - It's safe to say a Green Bay area teacher won't ever forget this Valentine's Day.
Kristin Zimmerman thought she was seating her students for a school-wide assembly.
What she didn't know was her boyfriend, Tony Hellenbrand, was hiding nearby, ready to ask her to marry him.
“It's going to erupt I'm sure,” said Hellenbrand. “Her kids are going to love it.”
Back in the gym, students and staff took turns sharing what the day meant to them. After Zimmerman took her turn, she stayed distracted long enough for Hellenbrand to make his entrance.
“Oh my goodness,” said Zimmerman as she turned around to Hellenbrand, waiting with flowers.
“Valentine's Day is really special to me because I met Kristin three years ago on Valentines Day,” said Hellenbrand while speaking to Zimmerman and the gym full of students.
Hellenbrand then popped the question. Zimmerman said yes.
“I'm usually not a loss for words because I'm a teacher, but today I am,” said Zimmerman.
“I was the most nervous guy alive right on the other side of that door and as soon as it opened it was just like ok, now I can at least do something about it,” said Hellenbrand.
“I'm super happy and I have a great man and I love him very much,” said Zimmerman.
