GREEN BAY - Some tall ships will sail their way back to Northeast Wisconsin this summer.
The Tall Ship Festival is coming to Green Bay on August 16-18.
At least eight tall ships will dock at Leicht Memorial Park in the downtown area.
Tuesday, five of those ships were announced. They are:
Appledore IV – Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay and festival day sail excursions
S/V Denis Sullivan – Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay sail excursion
Flagship Niagara – Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay sail excursion
Windy – Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay and festival day sail excursions
Hindu – Festival day sail excursions
Many of the ships will be available for tours and rides along the Fox River.
New this year, evening sunset sails aboard the ship named Windy.
Organizers say the event is an economic boost.
"It brings in huge economic impact whether it's the people staying at the hotels, eating at the restaurants, shopping our shops. It's just a whole new audience coming from all over,” said Sara Klemme, event coordinator.
The other three ships, which are from all over the world, will be announced in June.
