GREEN BAY - For the first time this regular season, Schmitty's Tickets is selling Packers tickets below face value.
“I've been leery of Detroit all year long because it's at night and that's what kills it,” said John Schmidt, the owner of Schmitty’s Tickets.
Schmity's had 37 tickets available as of Friday afternooon. But that's only after selling about 30 for $60 a piece.
The lowest face value price for a ticket at Lambeau Field is $72.
“It's just rather a matter of taking nothing on game day, I dumped them and made a lot of people happy,” said Schmidt.
The price could go even lower depending on Winter Storm Alan, which is expected to arrive Sunday before the Packers game kicks off at 7:20 p.m.
“If that snowstorm comes in it could go down under $50, but if the weather is good and its just a light snow, no sleet, no rain than it could go back up to $100 or more,” said Schmidt.
On Craigslist, FOX 11 found a set of four tickets for as low as $30 a piece.
Others aren't even trying to sell, deciding to take a tax write off by donating their tickets to the Boys and Girls Club.
“We sell the tickets and then use the money for all the programs for all the youth we serve here in Green Bay,” said Jeff Lanier, the senior director of finance for the Boys and Girls Club.
The tickets are sold at face value. Friday afternoon, the club had about 60 tickets left. That's about six times more than they see on a normal regular season game.
“This game we've had to charge less than face value for some single tickets, but for the most part we've been able to charge close to face value for this game,” said Lanier.
Even the Packers have extra tickets to sell. The Lions are the first opponents this regular season to give back some of their tickets.
Schmidt is still buying from people who want to sell their tickets. Just don't expect to receive face value.
“We're offering at least $50 each right now,” said Schmidt.
