GREEN BAY - Green Bay police have a new homicide investigation on their hands.
They responded to an apartment at 338 S. Quincy Street around 1:45 Sunday morning, after a report of a stabbing.
Officers found a 35-year-old man unconscious with a wound to his upper chest. A woman inside the apartment, identified as the victim's girlfriend, was administering first aid.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where he died.
Police say they learned there had been an argument between the victim and his girlfriend, Lois Pilar Velaszquez, over some domestic issues. During the argument, police say Velaszquez grabbed several knives and attacked the victim, stabbing him at least once in the chest.
Velaszquez has been taken into police custody and authorities are recommending a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
