GREEN BAY - Authorities are continuing to search for two suspects in a beating and abduction on Green Bay’s east side.
The incident began around 2 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 1316 Day Street. Responding officers were told by witnesses that three people beat a man and put him in a car trunk. The witnesses say that car then left the scene.
Green Bay police say the victim, 45-year-old James “Snake” Office, was found on the Menominee Tribal Reservation. Office was then transported to the Shawano Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been transported to Green Bay, where he was interviewed by police.
Meanwhile, police are looking for two men suspected in the crimes: Rodney Reed, age 41 and Peter Hawpetoss, age 26. Police say they may be driving a white Buick Skylark with a darker top and loud exhaust. The plate on the vehicle is WGN-298.
Police say they are in the process of issuing felony warrants for Reed and Hawpetoss for kidnapping and attempted homicide. The suspects are considered dangerous, if you see them contact the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3200.
A third person, 26-year-old Joyce Reed, was taken into custody by Menominee Tribal Police.
Family members say Office lives in Kaukauna and was visiting relatives but they don't know what led to the abduction.
"I have no idea why someone would want to hurt him because he's a fairly good guy," said Early Mae Easterling, a family friend of Office.
Easterling was one of about two dozen friends and relatives of Office who gathered outside of the home where he was allegedly attacked. A blood-stained driveway made those waiting worry he might not be found alive.
"I'm scared until I get a chance to see him and see that he's alright," said Annie Office, the mother of James Office.
Authorities say Office was found after walking out of the woods north of Keshena near Highway 55. FOX 11 found investigators recreating a crime scene at Big Smokey Falls, a whitewater rafting rental location on the Menominee Reservation.
Green Bay Police, Menominee Tribal Police and the FBI were all on scene.
