SHEBOYGAN - Sheboygan authorities say a two-vehicle accident happened Sunday afternoon after a box bounced out of the back of a pickup truck.
Police responded to the incident in the 3200 block of Washington Avenue around 1:45.
Officials say three people from Sheboygan were inside the truck headed east on Washington.
That's when a box they had in the open bed of the truck bounced out and landed on the roadway.
The truck's driver stopped in the traffic lane, intending to go out and get the box.
A car driven by a Waldo resident was also traveling east. It struck the box and as it flew up, she looked in her mirror, then hit the rear of the stopped truck.
Upon impact, the car caught fire. Fire crews were able to put out the blaze.
The truck had extensive damage.
Officials shut down the roadway to investigate the crash and remove the vehicles.
The two passengers in the truck were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The truck's driver was given a Uniform Traffic Citation for Failure to Properly Secure Load.
