SHEBOYGAN - A 43-year-old man is behind bars in Illinois after he allegedly robbed a Sheboygan liquor store.
It happened Sunday around 7:30 p.m. at Fischer’s Food & Liquor located at 4554 S. 12th St. in Sheboygan.
According to police, the 43-year-old suspect entered the store and demanded money. The clerk told police the suspect kept his hand concealed in his pocket, threatened him and pushed him to the floor.
Investigators say the suspect stole $300, beer and cigars before running away from the store.
The Fischer’s Food & Liquor clerk, who recognized the suspect as a previous customer, assisted police in identifying the 43-year-old man. A search warrant was then served at 962 Weeden Creek Rd. in Sheboygan. Sheboygan police then contacted police in Illinois after learning the suspect may have fled to the Chicago area.
Authorities say the 43-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody by Chicago police. He is currently being held in the Cook County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
