MANITOWOC - Manitowoc is the latest community to put burning restrictions into place because of the dry weather.
Fire Chief Bill Manis says the restrictions will go into effect at noon on Monday.
Under the restrictions, no burning will be allowed outside without a permit. No campfires or fire in portable fire pits will be allowed. Smokers may smoke outside only if they are in their car or if they are on a non-combustible area not near a grassy area. Smokers are also asked to dispose of their butts in ash trays.
Grills for cooking will be allowed as long as they are on non-combustible surfaces and the fire or charcoal is put out after cooking.
