SHEBOYGAN - A Sheboygan man will spend time in jail for Medicaid fraud.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen's office says Andy Yang, 32, pleaded no contest to the charges in November. Prosecutors say Yang, who was not a certified medical caregiver, got a waiver to take care of his aunt. In 2010 and 2011, Yang allegedly submitted time sheets and care reports indicating he had provided care to his aunt on 399 different days between 10 and 11:30 a.m. However, an investigation showed Yang worked at three different car repair shops during that time and was clocked in at those locations during the hours he claimed to be providing for his aunt.
On Tuesday, a judge withheld sentence, putting Yang on probation for two years and ordering him to spend 60 days in jail as part of his probation. Yang was also ordered to pay $7,500 in restitution, including $2,000 that he paid on the day of sentencing.
