TOWN OF BRUSSELS, Wis. (AP) - Officials say 13-year-old Brett M. Buhr has died after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a truck in Door County.
The sheriff's office says the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Township of Brussels. The Brussels area teen later died at a Green Bay hospital.
Buhr was on a designated snowmobile trail when he stopped before crossing the road. When he tried to cross the road, he collided with a truck driven by 47-year-old Joel Jeanquart.
The teen was the only person on the snowmobile. DNR officials say his brother was riding behind him on a separate snowmobile but was not hurt in the crash.
Jeanquart, who is also from the Brussels area, was not hurt either.
Officials say the accident is still under investigation and details will be released at a later date.
This is the first snowmobiling fatality in Door County since 2009, according to the DNR.
