SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - A Sheboygan teenager accused in the killing of a 78-year-old woman wants his case moved to juvenile court.
The Nathan Paape, 14, is charged as an adult and has not entered a plea yet. Defense attorneys argued Tuesday that Paape would be better served in the juvenile justice system.
The Sheboygan Press reports defense witnesses testified Paape is less likely to get the psychological treatment he needs in an adult prison. Prosecutors will make their arguments Wednesday.
Paape and a 14-year-old friend, Antonio Barbeau, are accused of bludgeoning Barbeau's great-grandmother, Barbara Olson, to death at her Sheboygan Falls home Sept. 17. Both boys were 13 at the time.
Barbeau has allowed his case to remain in adult court and has pleaded not guilty by mental disease or defect.
