KEWAUNEE COUNTY - The owner of a home for developmentally disabled adults has been charged with stealing pills from a patient.
Justine Schley, 49, owned Friendship Manor in the Town of Franklin, which is located in Kewaunee County.
According to a criminal complaint filed earlier this week, Schley allegedly took Adderall pills from a patient and falsely signed medication records.
The complaint states in one case that Schley admitted to taking the medication because she ran out of her prescription for Adderall and was unable to get it refilled. The court document goes on to say that Schley intended to replace the pill with one from her prescription.
Prosecutors believe that Schley took the patient’s Adderall pills on multiple occasions. The complaint says a worker at Friendship Manor noted in April 2011 that pills of two different doses were mixed in the patient’s prescription bottle.
Adderall is commonly used in treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.
Friendship Manor closed as a result of the investigation, displacing eight residents.
Schley is scheduled to make her first court appearance February 16.
