MILWAUKEE (AP) - A federal workplace agency is accusing a Shawano company of eliminating the job of an older worker while retaining a younger, less qualified worker.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says it has sued Computer Systems LLC for alleged age discrimination.
A message left with Computer Systems was not immediately returned.
The EEOC's Milwaukee office says Computer Systems eliminated the job of a 60-year-old last year, while retaining a 34-year-old who had a lower job rating and who handled fewer job responsibilities.
The agency says it filed suit only after failing to reach a pre-litigation settlement. The EEOC seeks damages and lost wages for the 60-year-old worker, who had been with the company for 38 years.
