GALVESTON, Texas - A new Navy vessel built in Northeast Wisconsin has arrived in Texas for commissioning.
The future USS Fort Worth set sail from Marinette Marine last month. It arrived in Galveston, Texas on Monday.
The Fort Worth is the second littoral combat ship to come out of Marinette Marine. The company has a Naval contract for ten more. Milwaukee, the first ship under the contract, is currently in production. It's scheduled for completion in 2014. In total, the shipyard is expected to employ 2,100 people through the contract.
The Fort Worth is set to be commissioned on Saturday.
