MARINETTE - The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend at the convenience store where she worked pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect Tuesday.

Richard Heyer allegedly shot Ann Schueller in August in Wausaukee.

A competency exam will be ordered. Heyer returns to court Dec. 13 for a status conference. No trial date has been set.
