SHAWANO - A Shawano County man will spend time in jail for neglecting cows on his farm.
Joseph Brunner, 50, was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation. He is not allowed to have animals and he will have to speak to local FFA groups.
Brunner was arrested in June after dead animals were found on his town of Belle Plaine farm. Prosecutors say Brunner told authorities during questioning that the animals had been sick with pneumonia and wasting disease. The first began dying in November 2011 and the last died in early March of this year. He said he had last sought help from a veterinarian in 2005.
