Marinette Marine to build more Coast Guard boats

MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) - Marinette Marine says it will build another 40 boats for the U.S. Coast Guard.

The $89 million order is part of a multi-year Coast Guard contract for construction and delivery of up to 250 medium response boats - a deal worth $600 million.

The Marinette company expects to deliver the 40 boats in the second quarter of 2013. Half of the boats will be built at its ACE Marine facility in Green Bay. The other half will be made at a partner facility in Kent, Wash.

Marinette Marine is owned by Fincantieri Marine Group.
