MUNISING, Mich. (AP) - Police say no citations will be issued after a pickup truck struck a dog team competing in the U.P. 200 race in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

One sled dog is dead and two are injured following the Sunday morning crash.

The Mining Journal of Marquette reports state police determined the crash involving the team of Frank Moe, of Bemidji, Minn., was an accident.

Police say the pickup driver slowed and had the right of way but was unable to avoid the dogs on M-28 near the Cherrywood Lodge in Alger County. The Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association says Moe saw the truck but was unable to stop in time.

The pickup driver was a 65-year-old man from Canada.

The 240-mile sled dog race started Friday in Marquette and ended Sunday.
