OCONTO - Firefighters believe children playing with matches or lighters may have started a fire that damaged an Oconto home Tuesday morning.
Fire Chief Jack Mlarnik says crews were called to 527 Congress St. just before 8:30 a.m. for a report of a fire. Crews arrived to find light smoke coming out of a window on the second floor. Firefighters quickly put the fire out and minimized damage to the house.
There were no working smoke detectors in the house.
Investigators are still trying to confirm how the fire started.
No one was in the house when the fire broke out.
