TOWN OF BIRNAMWOOD - Seven people were injured in a three vehicle crash in Shawano County.
It happened Sunday afternoon just after 4 on Highway 45, near the intersection of Cedar Road in the Town of Birnamwood.
Initial reports determined that a southbound pickup driven by 38-year-old Paul Radtke of Appleton was trying to pass another truck driven by 48-year-old Jeffrey Goodwin of Silver Lake.
Radtke lost control, hit Goodwin's truck before striking head-on with a northbound SUV driven by 41-year-old John Spoehr.
Radtke's vehicle caught fire. Other drivers extinguished the fire by shoveling snow on it.
Both Radtke and two other passengers were injured, along with Spoehr and three children. Goodwin was not injured.
The conditions of those injured are not being released at this time.
The crash remains under investigation and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The Shawano County Sheriff's Department urges all motorists to use extreme caution when traveling in the next 24 hours, many roads are ice covered.
