GREEN BAY - One person is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries and a man is behind bars after a three-vehicle crash involving a stolen truck.

It happened about 10:30 Wednesday night at the intersection of W. Mason St. and Military Ave. in Green Bay.

Police say an off-duty officer saw a pickup truck slam into the back of a car that was waiting at a red light on W. Mason St. That car then hit another car. One of the drivers, identified as 40-year-old Anthony J. John of Green Bay, suffered life-threatening injuries. Another victim in a third vehicle, 62-year-old Denis J. Reoh of Green Bay, suffered less severe injuries.

The driver of the truck tried to run away, whom police identified as 19-year-old Andrew E. Gleason of Krakow, but was caught by the off-duty officer a few blocks away.

The truck was reported as stolen from Oconto County.

Police say fog and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Gleason is being held in the Brown County Jail on an outstanding warrant, as well as possible charges of hit and run causing injury and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Police say further charges are expected.
