GREEN BAY (AP) - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has stopped taking most freshman applications but is still offering to make room for students from 11 counties in the region.
Admissions director Pam Harvey-Jacobs said the university has heard from some students who've had to change plans because of the economy and now need or want to attend college closer to home.
The university stopped taking most applications from freshmen in May, and the application period for most transfer students ends Thursday.
But those in the 11-county region can apply for admission through mid-August. That includes Brown, Kewaunee, Door, Oconto, Marinette, Shawano, Menominee, Calumet, Outagamie, Winnebago and Manitowoc counties.
