Reid case may move to adult court

NEENAH (AP) - A Winnebago County judge will determine Wednesday whether the case of a 16-year-old boy charged with homicide should be moved from adult to juvenile court.

The criminal complaint says Zachary B. Reid and his 53-year-old father Brett Reid fought after he was grounded and that Reid used his arms and hands to suffocate his father in their Neenah home Oct. 5.

Court documents say he later dragged the body to the trunk of his father's car, drove it to a Town of Neenah elementary school and left it there.

Crimes involving defendants younger than 17 normally begin in juvenile court, but a 1996 state law assigns adult court jurisdiction to juveniles ages 10 to 16 who are alleged to have committed first-degree intentional homicide and other homicide charges.
