OSHKOSH (AP) - Jurors have been selected for the trial of a Neenah teenager accused of strangling his father.
A jury of eight women and six men, including two alternates, was seated Monday to hear the case against 17-year-old Zach Reid. He's being tried on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his 53-year-old father, Brett Reid.
Winnebago County Circuit Judge Scott Woldt earlier rejected a defense motion to move the trial or bring in jurors from elsewhere because of pretrial publicity.
Instead of restraints and the orange jail jumpsuit Reid wore for previous court appearances, the defendant was unshackled and appeared in street clothes as his trial opened.
The victim's body was found Oct. 5 in the trunk of a car parked at Lakeview Elementary School in Neenah.
