GREEN BAY - Sources tell FOX 11 President Barack Obama will be holding a town hall meeting at Southwest High School in Green Bay on Thursday, but there has been no official confirmation from the White House.

This afternoon, officials met at Southwest to go over plans for the visit. Local police and fire crews met with the President’s advance team.

A lighting and sound company was also at Southwest.

FOX 11 spoke with a member of the advance team who said she had no information to release about the visit. She indicated there should be more information made public on Monday.

The event, expected to be held in the late morning on Thursday, is part of the Presidential Town Hall Series.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin says people will need tickets for the event, but that most of the tickets will be made available to the general public.

Green Bay Preble High School was on the short list of sites for the President to visit, but sources tell FOX 11 Southwest was selected, in part, because it is closer to Austin Straubel International Airport. That’s where the President is expected to fly-in and out of on Thursday.

Congressman Steve Kagen has said he expects health care to be a main topic of the President’s visit.

A spokesman for Kagen said he had no information on where the event will be held saying “until it’s official, it’s not official.”

In preparation for Obama’s visit, Kagen is holding a health care forum Monday morning at St. Norbert College. Members of the public and people in the health care field are invited to talk about reforming the health care system.

Kagen says he will present the information to the President.

That forum is Monday at 9 am at the F.K. Bemis International Conference Center at St. Norbert College, 100 Grant Street in De Pere.
