MADISON - State Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson was elected for the fourth time by Wisconsin voters.
Shortly after she gave a speech in Madison, thanking supporters, she told FOX 11, "I feel very good about all the people of the state who have come out and been supportive of a positive campaign."
And though you can still hear Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson's New York accent, she represents Wisconsin. She has served for the last 33 years on the state supreme court.
"The court plays an important role in everybody's life, even if they are not in court, but it sets a tone and sets a law for the state and for the people so it's very important and I will continue going around the state, talking with all the people, explaining the judicial system and listening to their concerns," said Abrahamson.
Abrahamson, who is 75 years old, says she will spent the next decade doing what she has in the past: being fair and impartial, and finding effective programs that work for Wisconsin families.
And after this ten year term, she's ready for another.
"Absolutely we'll see you in 10, but I'll see you before then, I'll be up in Green Bay, as always," said Abrahamson.
For now Chief Justice Abrahamson says priority one, is getting back to work.
