TOWN OF GILLETT - Authorities say they are investigating a double homicide at a home on Zastrow Road in the Town of Gillett after a family friend found the bodies of a brother and sister at the home Tuesday morning.
Police say the brother and sister were shot and there are no suspects at this point.
The bodies of the two victims were taken from the house nine hours after the Oconto County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene.
"There was a 911 call from the friend of the victim, they had a meeting set up this morning," said Oconto County Sheriff Mike Jansen.
Once on the scene, deputies found the bodies of a 32-year-old female and a 21-year-old male. The two were renting the house.
Jansen says the female victim had a young child who was at school when the murders occurred.
Investigators from the state crime lab and the state patrol were on the scene throughout the day gathering evidence and taking photographs.
The sheriff would not say whether a weapon was found or where in the home the victims were found.
Jansen also says while there is no suspect at this time, people in the area should not be worried.
"It does not appear that it's random. I have no indication of that," said Jansen. "I'm leading toward there's probably a connection, that's what we're looking at at this point."
