Niesen sentenced to life for '76 murder

FOND DU LAC - An Ashwaubenon man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 1976 murder of a go-go dancer in Fond du Lac.

In September, 53-year-old Thomas Niesen was convicted of killing 19-year-old Kathleen Leichtman and leaving her body on the side of the road. Prosecutors said she was stabbed to death.

The murder went unsolved from more than three decades until February, when police arrested Niesen after DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
