GREEN BAY - Despite the economy some area businesses are still thriving. Half a dozen of those businesses in the Green Bay area received the 2009 Business Recognition Awards Wednesday afternoon for their success.

The Entrepreneurial Award went to Parallel 44 Vineyard and Winery that has doubled its production in its first two years.

The Green Award for environmental consciousness went to De Pere's MegTec for incorporating energy efficiency in its equipment and services.

With its business up 24 percent this year and staff up 50 percent in three years, Heartland Business Systems received the Growth Award.

The Cornerstone Award for growth and community impact went to DeLeers Millwork.

The Special Accomplishment Award went to ASPIRO for providing work opportunities for disabled adults.

And Patrick Hopkins of Imaginasium was named Business Person of the Year saying success comes from trust.

"It's continuing to trust in your people. It's continuing to trust in your core service. Doing what you do best and remaining true to that," said Hopkins.

This is the 18th year for the Business Recognition Luncheon Awards. FOX 11’s Tom Milbourn emceed the event and helped present the awards from the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
