GREEN BAY - A class at Aldo Leopold Elementary School in Green Bay received a special gift ahead of President Obama’s visit.
Just the other day, the second and third graders got a letter and an autographed picture in the mail.
Their teacher, Scott Thompson says the class wrote President Obama about six months ago as part of a class assignment.
“They wanted to write to the new President and wish him luck and they offered him some ideas on how to be a good President,” said Thompson.
Thompson says the class really didn’t think they would hear back from President Obama.
“Sure enough we got a big letter, a big envelop in the mail the other day and it had the White House return address on it, which got us real excited,” said Thompson.
Thompson says one lucky student gets to keep the autographed photo. That student, Quentin Nelson, was picked through a raffle.
Nelson says “It is really cool” and plans to put the picture up in his bedroom.
Thompson says the assignment shows students how easy it is to write to the President.
