GREEN BAY - There were plenty of supporters at John Gard's post-election party at Brett Favre's Steakhouse.  Many said it was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, it wasn't enough.

"Can you see the relief on my face?" Gard said to FOX 11.  "We're great.  We fought the good fight.  We believe in the things we stand for and I'm blessed to have so many great friends and supporters."

Supporters were disappointed, but many said they will continue to work for their ideals.

"I'm feeling a lot of discouragement, however I do want to congratulate Senator Obama and Congressman Kagen," Gard supporter Jason Mugnaini said.  "Regardless of the outcome, I'll respect their positions."

As far as what's next for Gard, his immediate plans include running, but not for office.

"The only thing I'm going to run right now is get ready to run the Boston marathon again," Gard said.  "That's something I have a lot of passion for.  I've left it all in the field.  The last thing I could think about is running for office again and the last thing the voters want to think about right now is another election."

And after a very busy campaign season, John Gard is looking to things slowing down a little bit in his life.
