GREEN BAY - President Barack Obama will hold a town hall meeting at the Southwest High School gymnasium in Green Bay Thursday, the White House said.
Officials confirmed the location of the event Monday. They also set up a Web site for people to apply for tickets. For more details and to apply, visit http://www.whitehouse.gov/greenbaytownhall/ by noon Tuesday or call (202) 757-9821 by 8 p.m. Monday. Doors open at 9 a.m. Thursday for the noon event.
At a news conference Monday, school district officials said information on parking would come later in the week. They did encourage anyone attending to carpool.
Thursday is an exam day at the school, and about a third of the school's 1,350 students would be in. They plan to modify the schedule for the day. There are also plans for students to enter a lottery for tickets to the event.
Southwest High School principal Bryan Davis said it is a "privilege and and honor" to have the school chosen. The students are "very excited to have him" visit.
Davis estimates the gym holds about 1,400 people.
School leaders also sent a letter to Southwest parents detailing plans for the president's visit. Click here to read the letter.
