GREEN BAY - After Air Force One lands at Austin Straubel on Thursday morning, several elected officials from across the state will greet President Obama. They include Green Bay mayor Jim Schmitt, Governor Jim Doyle, Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett and Madison mayor Dave Cieslewicz. From there, the President will travel to Southwest high school for the town hall meeting on health care. We do not know when people will speak, but we do know some of the people who will speak.
"Anytime you get a White House call, it's pretty interesting," said Troy Murphy, the pastor of Green Bay Community Church in Howard who will lead the invocation.
Recent Preble high school grad Kayla Jenerson will sing the national anthem. Recent Notre Dame Academy grad Kyle Sladek will lead the pledge of allegiance.
"I'm really nervous and excited for tomorrow," said Southwest sophomore Yolanda Hernandez who is one of a handful of students helping out with the event. She said she doesn't know exactly what her role will be, but she says she will be helping on stage.
"My principal told me there's a great chance I might be able to meet him and shake his hand or at least something," Hernandez said.
The president will be introduced by breast cancer survivor Laura Klitzka from Pulaski. After the event, President Obama will meet privately with a small group of people. We don't know how many people have been invited but we do know one of the people who will meet the President.
"I really don't know what to expect tomorrow," said Kathy Hughes, vice-chairwoman of the Oneida Tribe. Hughes said she's hoping to be able to talk about health care with the President.
"I've never received this kind of honor before to be able to have some one on one time with the President of the United States," Hughes said.
After the meet and greet, Obama is expected to head back to the airport and leave aboard Air Force One. Several other Democratic politicians are expected to take part in the event. But those details are being kept quiet for now.
