KESHENA - Menominee Indian school leaders say at least four Keshena Primary School students are suspected of vandalizing the school Saturday night.
School was canceled Monday when staff members arrived Monday morning to find nine classrooms trashed, with furniture and computers overturned and paint thrown throughout the hallways.
Security cameras are being used to help police identify the
vandals. The school is continuing its investigation in cooperation
with Menominee Tribal police. A dollar estimate of the damage is
not yet available.
Superintendent Wendell Waukau said the district is working
closely with police to determine exactly how many students were
involved and why the vandalism occurred. It is not yet known if the
vandals will be formally charged in the case.
Students returned to school Tuesday. Keshena Primary School houses kindergarten through fifth grade.
