NEENAH - An area medical center is celebrating a big milestone. Theda Clark Medical Center marked its 100th anniversary on Wednesday.
The hospital was created after a family tragedy. It was Theda Clark Peters' wish that her money was used to build a local hospital if something ever happened to her. So when she died after giving birth, her brother followed her wishes.
Hospital President Kathryn Correia says Theda Clark Peters gave a tremendous amount to this community.
“Her legacy has stayed with us for 100 years, so we want to renew our commitment to that legacy and keep it going into the future,” said Correia.
Theda Clark opened in 1909 with just 25 beds. The hospital says it now has more than 160 beds and employs nearly 5,400 people.
