SHAWANO COUNTY - A man has been arrested after a brief high speed chase in Shawano County early Wednesday morning.
A deputy clocked a vehicle going 86 miles per hour around 6:52 a.m. on Sunrise Road west of County Highway A in the Town of Herman. The speed limit in the area is 45 miles per hour.
After the deputy turned on his lights and siren, the vehicle failed to stop and that’s when the pursuit began.
The driver of the vehicle crashed on County Highway A between Sunrise Road and the Mountain Bay Trial about six-tenths of a mile later. The driver, 22-year-old, David Stevens of Bowler then tried to run away.
The deputy in pursuit of Stevens then called the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit and the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department to aid in the search.
Stevens was located and arrested about a half-mile from the crash. He is currently in the Shawano County Jail on probable cause for fleeing and obstructing and was cited for multiple traffic violations.
