UW-Oshkosh’s AmeriCorps program, as well as a Waushara County community, are set to receive grants from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, Gov. Jim Doyle’s office announced Wednesday.
AmeriCorps Connects of UW-Oshkosh will receive $64,000 to fund 18 positions, the governor’s office said. Members will significantly increase the capacity of local organizations to provide employment to individuals who would otherwise not find jobs.
Projects for the AmeriCorps programs need to be approved by the state legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance.
The Village of Wautoma also received a $160,000 community development block grant for infrastructure for the expansion of Stoneridge LLC, a meat processor.
