STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) - A Wisconsin man has grown a massive pumpkin that tips the scales at 1,810.5 pounds - a possible world record.
Chris Stevens of New Richmond, Wis., submitted his giant gourd at the Stillwater Harvest Fest on Saturday.
When the official weight was announced, the 32-year-old contractor pumped his fist and the crowd roared.
His winner was 85 pounds heavier than the official world-record pumpkin.
That gourd weighed 1,725 and was grown last year in Ohio.
The Associated Press e-mailed a festival organizer Saturday to find out whether a Guinness World Records representative was on hand to verify the pumpkin set an official record.
The e-mail was not immediately returned.
Stevens says his secret is a precise mixture of sunshine, rain, cow manure, fish emulsion and seaweed.
