MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin election officials say more than 66,000 entries in their voter registration system still do not match information contained in other state databases.
That's down from the 70,000 names the Government Accountability Board reported in March did not match. The names are flagged if the voters' names, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers and birth dates differ from those contained in other databases.
The majority of those on the list, 65 percent, did not respond to a letter sent asking them to check their information and correct inaccuracies.
State election officials say planned to look into other options for clearing up the mismatches, including verifying information on election day and cross-checking with tax documents.
