Update on crash in Appleton

APPLETON - Appleton police say they believe speed and alcohol were factors in a single-car crash that shut down East Newberry Street Saturday.

It happened around 5:00 a.m. on the 19-hundred block.

Police say the driver -- a 26-year-old Menasha man -- hit a tree and power pole before his car flipped on its roof.

The man is listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

Part of East Newberry Street had to be shut down for several hours Saturday, as police investigated the crash.
