MADISON (AP) - A spokesman for Republican Mark Neumann says he intends to file
for governor on Wednesday.
Neumann will join Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and
Appleton businessman Mark Todd in the Republican field for next
year's race.
The 55-year-old Neumann, who lives in Nashotah, served in
Congress for four years between 1995 and 1999 but has been out of
politics since he ran a close race in 1998 trying to unseat
Democratic U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold.
He now runs a real estate development firm and is a home
builder. He also is co-chairman of a nonprofit group that runs
three Christian schools in the Milwaukee choice program and an
Arizona charter school.
Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat, is expected to seek a third term
but has not formally announced.
