Peace tree lights up downtown Green Bay

GREEN BAY - Green Bay celebrated its annual peace tree lighting ceremony Wednesday night.

It was held at the Brown County Courthouse and included caroling by area children. The ceremony kicks off the downtown holiday season.

Mayor Jim Schmitt says "With all the shopping, hustle and bustle, this is really all about peace. And to light this peace tree, here in front of the court house, is really what it's all about."

The peace tree dates back to 1969, where it was started during the Vietnam war.
