FOND DU LAC - The Miracle Mile is still golden.

“He's a shy guy. I want you to meet Ron Horton. Ron, here you are, a million dollars. Thank you,” said WI state lottery director Mike Edmunds as he presented Horton with a check.

Ron Horton bought the winning ticket at Ma and Pa's Grocery Express. He believes the luck is there.

“Oh, I always have that's why I've bought my tickets here for many years,” said Horton.

The gas station and convenience store has had dozens of big winners, including a $208 million winning ticket in 2006.

Horton said when he first checked his numbers Tuesday morning... He thought he won $600,000.

The Fond du Lac man called his daughter who couldn't believe it.

“He's like I won $600,000 and I’m like whatever, you did not. It's not April Fool's yet. And all of a sudden he got choked up and he said April, I asked four other guys at work to look at the numbers. This is for real!” said Horton’s daughter April Vermillion.

It turned out Horton had really won more.

“So now it's a little bit different number,” Horton said.

Because Horton’s Powerball ticket had five out of six numbers and he had added the power play option, Horton automatically won a million dollars.

When he realized his good fortune, it had quite the effect.

“Got very shaky and felt like I had to throw up and numerous other things,” said Horton.

Horton said the situation is surreal, and he hasn't decided yet what to do with the money… although he does have one purchase in mind.

“I always wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer because I love to cook, so I guess I can have a Kitchen Aid mixer now.

While Horton lets it all sink in... his daughter says no one deserves the winnings more than him.

“He's always gave if someone needed help, he helped his family out so I think it makes it that much cooler that this happened to him, because he's a pretty cool guy,” said Vermillion.
