Schools nominated for Blue Ribbon award

Two area schools have been nominated for the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

They are Suamico Elementary School in the Howard-Suamico School District and Kohler High School in the Kohler School District.

The state superintendent also nominated three other schools in the state.

To earn the National Blue Ribbon honor, a school must achieve overall academic excellence or succeed in closing achievement gaps.

In 2011, Beaumont Elementary School in Green Bay and Fremont Elementary School in Fremont earned National Blue Ribbon status from the U.S. Department of Education.
