DE PERE - An area run-walk is helping earthquake victims in Haiti.

1500 people took part in the 7th annual Seroogy's Valentine Run/Walk Saturday morning in De Pere.

Participants could choose to run a five or 15-K.

But this year, organizers threw in a twist.

They held a collection for t-shirts and running shoes, which will be sent to Haiti.

Organizers said it gives people an extra way to help instead of just giving money.

“It's just kind of opens your heart and it's about compassion and hey, this is a perfect time of year. It's the season of valentines and love,” said Gloria West.

Organizers say the t-shirt and shoe collection will run until April.

If you would like to help you can drop off items at 2079 Lawrence Drive in De Pere.
