GRAND CHUTE - Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jeff Suppan will make a rehabilitation start for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Saturday, the Timber Rattlers said. Suppan has been on the disabled list since July 27 with a rib cage strain.
The right-hander will face the Beloit Snappers when the Timber Rattlers begin an eight-game homestand that could see the team break the franchise single season attendance record.
Suppan was 5-8 with a 5.27 ERA in 21 starts for the Brewers this season before going on the disabled list. Suppan threw off the mound on Wednesday and was deemed ready for the starting assignment for the Timber Rattlers.
Team officials said the single-season attendance record for the Timber Rattlers was set in 1996 with 233,797 fans passing through the gates. Wisconsin has drawn 202,337 fans in 2009 and there are 11 home games remaining this season.
Saturday also features a post-game fireworks display courtesy of FOX 11. Game time is 6:35pm.
According to the Timber Rattlers, limited tickets remain for Saturday’s game, but they are expected to sell out soon.
