Three people were injured when a plane crashed in the Wisconsin town of Cottage Grove on Sunday.

Police say the plane experienced mechanical problems after taking off from the Blackhawk Airfield in Cottage Grove, just east of Madison, and went down in a field just before 11:30 a.m.

The pilot and two passengers suffered minor injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
