Eighteen Chrysler dealers in Wisconsin got the news Thursday they were on the list to be abandoned by the brand. Some are here in Northeast Wisconsin.

"I don't have any lash out words," said Norman Mueller. "Am I happy with it? No I'm not happy with it, I'd be a fool to say that, but it's not quite over year either."

Norman Mueller's been in the car business for 52 years, he's seen his share bumps in the road, and to him this latest news is just that, a mere bump.

"I'm from the theory my glass is half-full," said Mueller.

Over in Kaukauna a small downtown Dodge dealer also made the list.

The owner at Van Lieshout and Simon Dodge didn't want to go on camera but he did tell FOX 11 over the phone he is saddened with Chrysler's decision. This dealership has been part of the community for 62 years and he says it's been more than just a business for him and his six other employees, but part of their lives.

The owner says when the brand is stripped; it doesn't mean his dealership will go away. He still plans to sell used cars and keep his service center open. It's the same story for Mueller.

"We'll still be open tomorrow, business as usual, because of the Lincoln/Mercury franchise and our used car business," said Mueller.

Both businesses say they don't plan to lay anyone off after the brand affiliation goes away, which is slated for June 9th. But Mueller is optimistic that the list may not be the final word.

"Sometimes things have a way of righting themselves," said Mueller. "Maybe something better comes along."

The Kaukauna dealer says he's hired an attorney to see what his next move will be.

Mueller plans to appeal, however, Chrysler's Vice President said Thursday the cuts were "difficult but necessary," and that "the list of dealers is final and there will be no appeal process."

A hearing is scheduled for June 3rd in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for a judge to decide whether or not to approve Chrysler's plans.

Chrysler blames slow sales for the dealer elimination.
